De Sony Alpha A7s is een full frame camera en heeft een geavanceerde opname- en beeldprocessor die zorgen voor beelden met een hoog dynamisch bereik. De beelden zijn vrij van ruis, zelfs bij zeer hoge ISO-instellingen. De Sony Alpha A7s focust snel en fotografeert met maximaal 5 beelden per seconde. Naast fotograferen kun je ook filmen op kwalitatief hoog niveau. Wanneer je een externe HDMI recorder aansluit kun je opnemen in 4:2:2 UHD 4K videokwaliteit. Naast het 3 inch LCD scherm heeft de camera ook een digitale viewfinder.
