De HXR-NX5E is de eerste camcorder van Sony professional, die SD geheugenkaarten inzet om gebruik te maken van de nieuwste AVCHD-technologie. De camera maakt het mogelijk om tegen geringe kosten een professionele videoproductie te realiseren. De HXR-NX5E is uitgerust met de laatste innovaties op het gebied van lens- en sensor ontwerp. Hierdoor is er ook in minder licht situaties een uitstekend beeld. Deze videocamera geeft verder de keuze uit een groot aantal bitrates, interlace of progressieve opname, waarmee je het zachte 35mm-filmeffect realiseert.
Deze camera wordt geleverd met 2 x 16GB waarmee ongeveer 3 uur in full HD gefilmd kan worden.
